The Jamestown Community Lions Club was chartered on November 21, 1986. Charter Night was held on January 17, 1987, in the Granville Wells Elementary School. Thirty-two members were inducted into Lionism by Past International Director Bill Schooler. The District Governor Doug Lozier and PDG Bill Birk was the driving force in forming the club. The Pittsboro Lions Club was the sponsoring club. Jay Randle was the Charter President.

The very first project that the club undertook was providing Christmas Baskets for needy people in the community.

The club has helped form four other clubs in District 25-C.

There has been three District Governors from the club. 1991-92 - Jay Randle, 1992-93 - Jim Brown, and 1993-94 - Cecil Florence.
